DSO Fellowship Program

The DeKalb Symphony Orchestra Fellowship Program is a pre-professional training initiative for early-career orchestral musicians. This program offers participants rigorous training, personalized mentorship, mock audition opportunities, pre-screening recording support, and high-level professional performance experiences. Fellows work closely with members of the orchestra in rehearsals and performances, gaining insight into the demands and artistry of performing. Fellows attend all rehearsals and perform in subscription masterworks, pops, educational, and community concerts. They participate in master classes and discussions with musicians, conductors, guest artists, and DSO leadership.

Eligibility

Open by audition only, this program serves college-aged students residing in or near the metro-Atlanta region. Fellowships are tenable for one full calendar year and may be concurrently held with other mentorship programs. Available fellowships are announced each April on our website. Fellows must perform in 5 out of 6 regular DSO performances to remain in good standing within the program.

Financial Support

Each DSO Fellow will receive $1,000 during the year of their fellowship.

Audition Requirements

A solo work from the standard repertoire chosen by the applicant and required orchestral excerpts. Auditions will be scheduled by invitation between May and September.
